I came up with this idea two days ago. This site is nothing more than a tool to explain the concept to friends so I can get feedback. -Andre

How Peeropolis Works

A transparent, participatory system where every peer shapes the experience. Voting & proposals are off-chain, via the Peer Portal for low-cost and ease of UX. Money in and money out is all on-chain for transparency.

Core Mechanics

  • 1 Maximum 100 participants, each with 100 votes (1% total influence)
  • 2 Transparent on-chain transactions with receipt verification
  • 3 Projects funded after event via reimbursement
  • 4 No fixed deadlines - continuous proposal and funding system

Organizational Structure

  • 1 Base operations (food, accommodation) managed by venue
  • 2 Organizational roles are task & responsibility based, via proposals
  • 3 Any peer can propose to support the org in any way - the org is you, peeropolis is what you create
  • 4 Transparent voting minimizes organizational nepotism

Financial Model

  • 1 Amounts above base price split 50/50 between subsidized peerships & venue
  • 2 Venue is provider of food and accommodation
  • 3 Equal voting rights regardless of ticket price
  • 4 Transparent fund allocation and receipt verification

The Garden

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to be a crypto nerd to join?

No, you simply need to have a way to send an ETH contribution to join the event. If you create a proposal, you need a way to receive ETH (or USDC) to be reimbursed after the event.

What is Peeropolis?

Peeropolis is a month-long, 100% co-created pop-up city where each peer directly allocates 1% of the total funding pool to projects they want to support. When you buy a ticket, you get direct control over your share of resources to shape what YOU want the event to be. You can also create proposals if you want to take more responsibility. It's a curated experience limited to 100 participants plus crew, with an application process to ensure alignment with the community's values.

What's included in the peership?

Peerships include access to Peeropolis for the full month, 100 votes (1% of total funding pool), and the ability to propose and contribute to projects. Accommodation and food are NOT included in the peership price and must be arranged separately with the venue.

How does the funding allocation work?

After careful consideration of these models, we chose Model 3 with some adaptations to balance inclusivity and sustainability. Our model features a sliding scale for entry fees while maintaining equal allocation power, ensuring both accessibility and sufficient funding. This approach creates a fair system where everyone directly controls 1% of the total funding pool, while the sliding scale ensures financial sustainability.

How does the funding allocation work?

Each peer directly controls 1% of the total funding pool. You can allocate your funds to any proposals - whether organizational or peer projects. Projects receive funding after the event via reimbursement, upon submission of transparent receipts and documentation.

When and where is Peeropolis happening?

Peeropolis has two sessions in 2025 at The Garden in Portugal: Spring Session (April 21 - May 18) and Fall Session (September 16 - October 13). Each session has dedicated build periods with specific arrival waves to ensure smooth setup.

How are projects funded?

Project funds are sent in ETH with transparent on-chain transactions. Funded projects receive 1/3 upfront, with the remaining 2/3 distributed after the event upon submission of transparent receipts and documentation of deliverables.

Is this a DAO?

No, this is not quite a DAO. Doing things on-chain adds complexities to UX, development time, and cost. You will need to hold ETH, BTC, DAI, or USDC to attend the event, and your project will receive funding in USDC, but all voting will be done via your account, and done semi-anonymously via a centralized database.

What is the role of Garden?

The Garden is the organizational foundation that ensures a minimum level of order in this inherently entropic event. They curate participants through an application process and manage the organizational funding for common goods and team contributions.

What makes Peeropolis unique?

Peeropolis is at the Garden, which is a completely smoke & alcohol free space. Also, some indoor common spaces are screen-free for vibes.

How is installation placement decided?

After projects are funded, a second round of ranked-choice voting determines placement. This ensures optimal space utilization and creates cohesive zones within Peeropolis that reflect collective preferences.

Which aspects are centrally managed?

While most aspects are co-created, the venue provides and manages core infrastructure and must approve any permanent installations to ensure safety and sustainability. Food services and accommodation are available directly from the venue and must be arranged separately from your peership.

What accommodation is available?

There is ample glamping for everyone, 10 spaces in dorms, and 12-16 private rooms / cabins. All accommodation must be arranged directly with the venue. There are also hotels and airbnbs available within 5-10 minutes of the venue, and ample options in Viana do Castelo & Ponte de Lima, both of which are 15 minutes from the venue by car.

What is cost of food?

Food portions are generous with and plant-based with local eggs & butter. Breakfast is €7, lunch €10, dinner €12. If you there to be meat, make a proposal! ;). Peeropolis is your oyster. There is a large existing BBQ & there will be a proposal for a communal kitchen for DIY cooking.
